Everything that was ever created by man began as a thought. It is the seed planted in our minds for us to nurture, protect and grow until we see it come to fruition.
Achieving our fitness goals and ambitions is no different. We need to first picture the kind of life we imagine living when we get to a certain fitness level. This needs to be done vividly and at regular intervals. Napoleon Hill put it best when he said, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”
This can be a challenging to imagine especially if there is a big gap between where you are and where you wan to be in X months or a year’s time.
Bridging the gap
Something that can help to bridge that gap it to have a strategy and plan in place. If you do not know where you are going any road will lead you there. A plan gives you guidance and boundaries within which to operate as you are working towards your goals. The plan should not be too ridge and have you changing your life completely. It should be something that will fit in with your current lifestyle and that you can sustain. Listen to this episode of the MMB Lifestyle Podcast on tips on setting health and fitness goals that could help you bridge that gap.
Have patience
Patience is virtue that is referred to time and time again. It is one that is not so easy to come by. In this world of instant gratification, results and six-week transformations, the virtue of patience is fading away quickly when it comes to fitness goals. Having said that, how does one find that balance between patience without being too slow to act?
Trust yourself and the process
There are greater laws at work in the universe beyond what we can consciously experience. Trusting the process involves having faith. Faith in yourself, your effort and what you are capable of. If you put in the effort required of you for a given period, you will get there.
Until next time take care of yourselves and of each other.
